SingTel allows Visa prepaid accounts to be linked to mCash accounts in a strategic partnership with Visa to boost its mobile money solution.
SingTel, a Singapore-based telecom conglomerate, has just announced its strategic alliance with Visa, the multinational firm which facilitates electronic funds transfer. This will see consumers in Singapore and Australia using their smartphones at all Visa payWave acceptance points with mCash, SingTel’s mobile money solution.
Scheduled for launch early next year, mCash customers can now pay for purchases with their NFC-enabled smartphones. According to the press release, there are currently more than 12,000 Visa payWave acceptance points in the city-state, and over 100,000 across Australia.
Payments will not be limited to the aforementioned two countries, and will go beyond NFC transactions. These customers can also make e-commerce purchases online by entering their Visa prepaid account number linked to the mCash account.
